Apprentice

How does it work?

As an ATEC Group Training apprentice, you will gain experience by working for a company and attending off the job training at a trade school.

The Application Process

  1. Pre-employment aptitude test. Assesses your reading, maths, problem-solving and mechanical reasoning skills. Successful completion of Year 10 should enable you to pass the aptitude test.
  2. Group interview. Tests your communication and leadership skills.
  3. Personal interview. This determines your personal interest and aptitude for apprenticeships. If successful you will be put forward for apprenticeship positions in the vocation of your choice.
  4. Referral to apprenticeships. You will be sent for interviews with Host Employers who are looking for apprentices.
  5. Interview feedback & confirmation of employment. We advise you of the result of your interview. If unsuccessful you will be referred to other positions as available.
  6. Medical assessment. This ensures you are physically fit for work and may include alcohol & other drug testing (if requested by your Host Employer)
  7. Employment Induction. Your employment and apprenticeship documentation is completed. We train you in workplace safety awareness.
  8. Commencement of your apprenticeship

What we look for in an applicant

  • Completion of either Year 10, 11, 12 or pre-vocational studies
  • Genuine interest in a particular trade
  • Knowledge of the desired trade/industry
  • Own transport and licence is desirable

  • Research the trade and industry you wish to work in
  • Consider getting a part time job
  • Organise transportation for yourself
  • Consider pre-vocational training
