About ATEC

History of Adelaide Training and Employment Services Centre

Adelaide Training & Employment Centre was established by the Commonwealth and South Australian Governments and Industry in 1989. ATEC is a bipartite incorporated organisation, and is a not for profit training provider. 

Our expertise covers the training of apprentices and specialised training for industry, school students, school leavers and the unemployed. Our training covers a broad range of qualifications and courses across mechanical, fabrication, engineering production, general construction, electrical, business and retail areas.

Our apprentice numbers have increased from 12 in 1995 to over 800 in 2004.

ATEC has two industry focused skills training centres located strategically in the North Western and Southern metropolitan areas

The western training centre provides additional services through its Australian Apprenticeship Centre and Group Training divisions.

Employment Services for job seekers and employers is also provided through our Job Network sites at Port Adelaide and Noarlunga.

In 2007, the Australian Technical College - Adelaide South was opened at Christie Downs.
